Power Cable-less
Power cable-less is a simplified, innovative design that provides a patented 7-pin SATA connector equipped with a built-in power circuit design to replace an external power cable, thus eliminating the concern over sudden disconnection of power cords.
The simplified, innovative design not only elevates system stability but includes advantages such as improved air flow direction and prolonged lifespan of spare parts.
Unlike 22-pin SATA SSD with a 7-pin signal segment and a 15-pin power segment which directly supplies power to a storage device, 7-pin SATADOMs are designed with signal segments only and therefore, require an external cable to take the place of power pins. However, external cabling has the downsides of not only occupying the limited board space for the deployment of other components, but also making SSD vulnerable to shock and vibration in embedded server systems. As the server market grows along with the need for data storage in the era of cloud computing, a rugged, robust mechanical architecture and stable operations have become vital when deploying storage devices. In consideration of this, storage devices should be equipped with compact design and system reliability to meet the demanding requirements of industrial embedded applications.
In order to optimize the precious board space and protect the SATA connection against shock and vibration, Apacer provides SSD products with a small form-factor, cable-less, shock resistant, patented 7+2pin SATA connector which is equipped with a built-in power circuit design to replace an external power cable, thus eliminating the concern over sudden disconnection or loosening of power cords caused by vibration. The simplified, innovative design not only elevates system stability but includes advantages such as improved air flow direction and prolonged lifespan of spare parts.
